UNITED STATES - AUSTRALIA SOLAR ENERGY COLLABORATION SPECIAL RESEARCH INITIATIVE REQUEST FOR COMMENT
The ASI is interested in receiving feedback from the Australian solar research community in relation to a proposed Strategic Research Initiative (SRI) funded initially under the auspices of the United States – Australia Solar Energy Collaboration (USASEC). The document below aims to provide context and sets out a number of questions for consideration. Comments received on or before close of business on Friday 23 September 2011 will be appreciated.
In November 2010, Prime Minister Julia Gillard and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced the establishment of the United States Australia Solar Energy Collaboration (USASEC) to accelerate the reduction in costs of deploying solar energy through research collaboration. The ASI is responsible for managing the Australian Government’s contribution to the Collaboration, valued at up to $50 million. The first area of work under the USASEC is Research Exchange and Foundation Projects.
Applications have closed for USASEC Foundation Project funding and the inaugural USASEC Research Exchange round.
