This project aims to deliver to the global market a commercial solar storage product with a sustainable Levalised Cost of Energy (“LCOE”) that will be cost competitive with other non-renewable forms of energy.
The key challenges in developing and commercialising the Graphite Energy Solar Storage Receiver (Graphite Energy SSR) is determining the optimal product design and operating parameters, to maximise the Graphite Energy SSR’s solar efficiency.
The core product innovation relates to the base Graphite Energy SSR and Graphite Energy system technology that was developed for our NSW test facility. The Graphite Energy SSR, leverages the unique properties of graphite as an effective heat storage medium.
Although the product is ready for early stage commercialisation, the next challenge is to demonstrate that the Graphite Energy System can achieve a competitive LCOE. Once this is achieved,the project team will continue with the next generation of product development and commercialisation, to deliver a product that is competitive with other non-renewable forms of energy.
